Brilliant one man mime and object theatre show about a painter struggling with inspiration in his studio. Thom Monckton and Circo Aereo of The Pianist fame.
The canvas, the paints and thinner, the leak on the roof, arranging the still life, reaching high for the materials, playing with the ladder and finished paintings.
A few misses, but mostly inspired object fun with a great friendly air, and spot on pace and timing. Easy smiles from veteran Monckton earned many laughs.
Impressive physicality; fitness helps when making the easy look difficult an vice versa. Sounds and lighting mostly winning. A few tinny beeps were unnecessary and the part behind the canvas was slow and not worth the resolution. Fun audience participation with ping pong and a painting assignment.
A fine arc. A complete, fun show with a rare, inspired finish.
