#20 We Are Not a Muse

Theatre ( Comedy, Puppetry ) theSpace at North Bridge

Charming literary triple-take from a razor sharp young comedy duo. Impressive budding comedy chops, breaking down first the fourth wall, and then the literary patriarchy by enacted and re-enacted sample stories.

Clever banter with the audience, confident exposition beyond their years. There's a definite low-key pub theatre feel, though it's carried with pride. All well and good, but the show is well too complex for their simple message, and far too plain to punch hard.

The two are a joy to watch, and genuinely funny in their ironic performances, but there is not enough here for 50 minutes of show. I'm reminded of the film "Be Kind Rewind", which, unlike this piece, had some meat in the story and message around the re-enactments.
